Gourmet Chili: A Diner Experience Awaits You in Newport

I've been eating at Gourmet for decades. The delicious food, personal service, and friendly atmosphere makes you feel like you've known everyone in there for years. The staff remembers you. They remember your children and family. They take the time needed for you. It's a must have in my life. Make it a tradition for Mondays, or weekends or any time suited for you. You'll enjoy it at a low cost. Your kids will be excited to go there. Gourmet Chili has stolen my heart and my tummy. Everyone around here feels the same. So much history.

Second time I’ve had Cincinnati chili…and the first time I’ve had it for breakfast! I’m originally from Texas, where we have a specific definition for chili, but one needs to be able to appreciate Cincinnati chili as a separate and unique dish. And Gourmet Chili does it well! The cinnamon comes through in their meat sauce, and their cheese is as finely grated as Skyline’s. The medium-sized five-way (they have three sizes) was $8.85, which is a great price in this economy. (Not more than Skyline’s price for the five-way pre-COVID and pre-inflation.) The cup of coffee with continuous refills was $2.50. Cash only, so make sure you have bills with you. (They do also have an ATM right inside the front door.) The owner and staff at Gourmet Chili were friendly and warmly welcoming to this out-of-town visitor from Pittsburgh, so five stars for service. And they were speaking Greek to one another…so you know it’s legit! Did I mention the great hours? On a Sunday morning at 8:30 AM, when just about all of the other chili parlors in town are closed, it was nice to be able to visit Gourmet Chili and enjoy a cup of coffee with my five-way. Five stars all around!

I've been going to Gormet Chili every since it opened. It used to be called Crystal Chili. I think they might still use the same recipe for Chili. But man o man they have a breakfast special like no other. You get 3 eggs bacon goetta or sausage fried potatoes and toast for a super reasonable price! But if you really want the best thing on the menu...hands down its the gyro! Great food, great people and great service every single time. Never been disappointed at Gormet. Sandy and George are the best!

I have been to gourmet chili in Newport Kentucky many times mostly picking up food for my mother-in-law and my boyfriend. Their food is amazing. The employees the cook are very Professional they always greet me with a smile and hold the door open for me when I leave. I’m in a wheelchair and I don’t even have to ask them to hold the door, but they still do it. The staff is friendly. The prices are excellent, and if I had to recommend them to my family or friends or a random stranger, I would If you ever go to gourmet chilli, I recommend trying the Gyro They are amazing and the wildcat platter. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in Newport, Kentucky and this one tops them all they have a large menu and very tasty food.

Great food, great prices, and great service! I had 2 cheese coneys with a cheese fry. My husband had Steve's double cheeseburger. Our food was EXCELLENT!! Everything was hot and flavorful. My husband said it was one of the best burgers he's ever had. All of the staff was very welcoming and friendly. And the prices are so reasonable! We found a new favorite place!

They have some great food on the menu. I'm partial to their chili personally. You also get a lot for your money. The waitress that was there was very attentive amd friendly. My wife and I have eaten here a few times and enjoyed it each time. The only thing I don't like is that it's cash only, but they do have an in-house atm which is helpful.

Overall pleasant dining experience. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was fifty/fifty. My ribeye was okay, but I wouldn’t order it again as it tasted like it had been prepared on the same grill as liver and onions. My husband said that his sliced tomatoes were the best part of his meal. Neat dining experience, but unfortunately not a place we’ll be racing to eat at again. The hours of operation and the menu were what hooked us to try this restaurant.

Our favorite place to eat with the grandchildren. The chili cheese fries were fire! The chili is amazing and better than any local chain. It's a great place for breakfast and lunch. 10/10 highly recommend. Cash only.
